Because the July screening last year happened during a very stormy evening, not many people were able to come out to see this awesome doco. As requested by many we’re screening INHABIT – A Permaculture Perspective again this month. Hope you can make it this time…
TITLE: INHABIT: A Permaculture Perspective. Feature-length documentary by Costa Boutsikaris and Emmett Brennan
DATE: Sunday, 10 January
WHERE: CWA Cottage in Cobargo
TIME: 4.30pm Coffee and tea provided – bring your own mug. To cover the costs a $5 donation is much appreciated.
After traveling around the north-east US for a year living at permaculture sites and learning more about this design philosophy, Costa Boutsikaris was inspired to make his first feature documentary.
With funds raised on KickStarter he converted a 1982 VW Van to run on vegetable oil and solar panels and began a three year journey to make INHABIT.
Focused mostly on the Northeastern and Midwestern regions of the United States, INHABIT provides an intimate look at permaculture people and practices. The interviews with ‘boots on the ground’ permaculture practitioners offer plenty of food for thought about its applications and potential impact.
Together with Emmett Brennan, they documented over 20 sites in a range of rural, suburban, and urban environments. They explored a breadth of responses to local and global challenges from issues of food, water, and medicine, to governance, economy, and culture.
