from a post to the Quaama Mailing List …
The next Cobargo Seedsavers’ gathering is on Tuesday 8th December from 10am to 12pm at River and Tam’s place – 18 Blackbutt Drive, Cobargo (off Charlotte St, opposite the pre-school).
We’re getting together earlier than usual to get in before the Christmas-time rush, so hoping you can make it. We’ll be podding and husking mustard seeds harvested from the BUFF (Bermagui Urban Food Farmers’) garden, Norma’s amaranth seeds from Yowrie, and possibly more peas from Philip in Tilba. We’ll also be doing a walk and chat with River and Tam around their garden to see how their vegie and seed growing is coming along.
Thanks to those who have volunteered to get planting and grow more seeds for our local seedbank!
Here is a list of what’s been offered so far:
Norma – globe artichoke, beans (presto, lazy housewife), endive, parsnip
River & Tam – beans (haricot), pumpkins (wrinkled butternut, Queensland blue)
Debra & Steve – pumpkin, capsicum
Mog – beans (borlotti, lazy housewife)
Heimo – mizuna, lettuce (purple tbc), broadbeans, corn (painted mountain), nasturtiums
BUFF – beetroot, capsicum (California wonder – for replanting)
Ruta & Mike – chillis (Habanero)
If you think you can add to this list by growing a few extra plants and saving some seed for our local seedbank, come and join us at the December gathering and we can give you some tips and help in getting started!
If anyone would like to contribute to the seedbank but can’t come along on December 8th, just email me at firstname.lastname@example.org to find out more about the seedsaving process.
Look forward to seeing you all at our last gathering for 2015.
